Keyboard notes

QWERTY layout. A familiar mobile shape remapped around Dovahzul rune frequency. Its top row follows the font’s 1–9 combined-rune order. Its 123 layer contains numbers, punctuation and arrows.

Mobile layout. Four rune rows follow the mobile reference. Tap 123 for numbers, punctuation and arrows; tap Sik to return. Microphone and emoji buttons are reserved and inactive.

Layouts. Grouped follows the original speculative arrangement. Split places the vowel families on the left and consonants on the right, without a physical gap. Flick uses gestures for the additional runes.

Cursor controls. Tap Alt to reveal E ↑, AA ←, EI ↓ and II →. Inactive keys become blank. Each combined rune is one cursor step. On the flick layout, the same arrow cluster occupies E, A, S and D.

Flick layout. Hold a vowel to see its choices, then slide and release. You can also flick directly: right for AA / II / OO / UU; down for AH / IR / UR. E uses up for EI and down for EY.

Native typing. 1 AA · 2 EI · 3 II · 4 AH · 5 UU · 6 UR · 7 IR · 8 OO · 9 EY. The on-screen number row always writes actual numbers. Turn off the native shortcut option to type numbers normally.

Pair assistance. Optional conversion of aa, ei, ii, ah, uu, ur, ir, oo and ey. Backspace immediately after a conversion restores the separate letters. An apostrophe in u’u is consumed when assistance converts it to the UU rune.

This prototype. Text stays in this page and is lost on reload. Ctrl and the microphone are reserved and inactive. Punctuation is provided from the font; it is not presented as native Sik punctuation. This is a keyboard testing surface, without accounts or messaging yet.

Welcome to writing in Sik.

This is a space to get comfortable reading and writing Dovahzul’s script, one message at a time.

Your writing appears in Sik. You can write in Dovahzul or write English using Sik characters. You don’t need to know Dovahzul to try it: the purpose is script immersion, and familiarity comes with practice.

This prototype is for trying keyboard designs that will eventually become part of a Sik chat application. The surrounding controls and this introduction are in English while we test the keyboards.

A little help while you learn

Keep Latin hints on to identify the keys, or turn them off to practice recognizing the runes. Turn on Transliteration above the writing space to see your text in Latin letters; it does not translate Dovahzul into English.

Prefer your usual keyboard? Enable Use device keyboard. With Native 1–9 enter runes enabled, these keys enter the nine combined runes:
